True independence in real estate isn't having no one to answer to. It's having the ability to create your own opportunities. A lot of agents are constantly looking for something that's going to change the course of their business. A new lead source. A new CRM. A new company. A new program. A new opportunity. And sometimes those things absolutely help. But what many agents don't realize is that you have the ability to create the opportunity yourself. The most successful agents eventually figure out how to generate their own business. And you know why that's so damn hard? Because almost everything you do to build your own lead source doesn't pay you today. You make the video today. You build the database today. You call your sphere today. You write the email today. You create the content today. You build the relationship today. And most likely, none of it gives you a listing tomorrow. That's the hard part. We're naturally drawn toward activities that give us an immediate result. But some of the most important work you can do in your business has no immediate reward. It compounds. Look at this blog. It wasn't created in a day. I didn't sit down one weekend and write everything that's on there. It's an accumulation of work I've done week after week. One email. One idea. One story. One lesson. One week at a time. Eventually, all those individual pieces of work became something bigger. An asset. That's how I want you to start thinking about your business. Every person you add to your database is an asset. Every relationship you build is an asset. Every piece of content you create is an asset. Every past client you stay connected with is an asset. Every system you build is an asset. And eventually, those assets start creating opportunities without you constantly having to go looking for the next one. That's true independence. And maybe you've heard all of this before. Maybe I've even told you some version of it before. That's okay. Sometimes we need to hear something five times, ten times, or a dozen times before something happens in our life or business that finally makes it click. I've experienced that myself. You'll hear something and think, Yeah, I know that. Then six months later you hear the exact same thing and suddenly think: Wait...I get it now. The information didn't change. You did. You were finally in a place where you were ready to understand it—and hopefully, ready to act on it. So if you've read some of these emails before and haven't done anything with them, don't beat yourself up over it. Pick one thing and start now. Because knowing what to do isn't what changes your business. Doing it does. So here's my question for you: What are you building today that could generate business for you 6 months, 12 months, or even 3 years from now? And if the answer is nothing, why aren't you spending the time to build it? Six months from now is going to come either way. You can arrive there still looking for the next opportunity... or you can arrive there with something you built that is creating opportunities for you. Don't just work for your next closing. Build something that can create your next 100 closings. ONE Week at a Time I've been putting these thoughts, stories, and lessons together on my blog. If you've missed some—or maybe you read them before but weren't ready to act on them—go back and read a few again. Stop Waiting for the Opportunity

August 31, 20263 min read

Then six months later you hear the exact same thing and suddenly think:

Wait...I get it now.

So here's my question for you:

What are you building today that could generate business for you 6 months, 12 months, or even 3 years from now?

And if the answer is nothing, why aren't you spending the time to build it?

Six months from now is going to come either way.

You can arrive there still looking for the next opportunity...

or you can arrive there with something you built that is creating opportunities for you.

Don't just work for your next closing. Build something that can create your next 100 closings.

I've been putting these thoughts, stories, and lessons together on my blog.
