Let's get our MONDAY MINDSET right
Relationships Before Revenue: Lately, I've been focusing on building deeper relationships with people at the next level.
Notice I didn't say selling people at the next level.
There's a big difference.
Too many people approach networking with an immediate agenda:
What can this person do for me?
Can they send me business?
Can I recruit them?
Can I sell them something?
People can feel that energy immediately. When every conversation has an angle, it becomes a transaction—not a relationship.
I'm learning that the next level of business isn't always about meeting more people. Sometimes, it's about going deeper with the right people. That means taking the time to understand what they're building, what challenges they're facing, and what matters to them. It means looking for ways to add value before asking for anything in return.
The best opportunities in my life have rarely come from pushing a sale. They've come from trust built over time. A conversation becomes a relationship.
A relationship becomes a partnership. A partnership can create opportunities neither person could have created alone. But you can't rush that process.
This is especially important in real estate. Your database isn't valuable because it contains hundreds or thousands of names. It's valuable because some of those people know you, trust you, and believe you will be there when they need you.
The question isn't simply:
"How many people are in my database?"
The better question is:
"How many of those relationships am I actively strengthening?"
We often spend so much time chasing the next lead that we overlook the people who already know us.
Past clients.
Current clients.
Other agents.
Business owners.
Attorneys.
Lenders.
Vendors.
Community leaders.
People who may never personally buy or sell a home with you—but could still become an important relationship in your life and business.
The goal shouldn't be to contact people only when you need something. The goal is to remain connected, useful, and genuinely interested in their success.
That's how you become more than someone's real estate agent.
You become a trusted advisor. You become a connector. You become someone they want in their circle.
MONDAY MINDSET CHALLENGE
Choose five people you want to build a deeper relationship with this week.
Reach out without trying to sell them anything. Invite someone to coffee.
Congratulate them on something they accomplished. Ask what they're working on.
Introduce them to someone who could help them. Share something useful without asking for anything in return. Then listen.
Don't spend the conversation waiting for your opportunity to pitch. Be present and learn something about the person.
SELF-REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Am I building real relationships—or simply collecting contacts?
Do people hear from me only when I need something?
Who are the five people I should know more deeply?
What value can I provide without expecting an immediate return?
Am I spending enough time around people who challenge me to think at a higher level?
CLOSING THOUGHT
Your next level may not come from the next person you sell.
It may come from the next relationship you take the time to genuinely build.
Focus less on what you can get from people and more on what you can build with them.
The business will follow.
Have a great WEEK!
