Let me share a personal story with you about resourcefulness & decisions.
When I got into real estate back in 2011, I didn't have access to the MLS because my office didn't have GSMLS or Hudson MLS. I didn't have ShowingTime, ZipForms, DocuSign, training videos, coaching, transaction support, or an agent resource page. I had never even met my broker, and if I needed something, it could take days to get a response.
The story begins when I had a client who wanted to see a property and make an offer.
The problem? I had no idea what I was doing. I called the listing agent to get access information. I texted. I followed up. I wrote down phone numbers from Zillow because i didn't have the MLS!, and kept reaching out until someone responded.
When it came time to write the offer, I didn't even have access to forms! I literally searched online for a contract because I had no other option. Looking back, it's crazy because I wasn't even sure if it was the right forms! When I needed an attorney and an inspector, I used Yahoo and Google.
When I didn't know the next step, I called the attorney and asked, "What's next?" Never did i fear looking foolish!
Eventually we got under contract. And when it came time to get paid, I created my own commission invoice from scratch because there were no templates and nobody showing me how to do it.
The point of this story isn't that I knew what I was doing. The point is that I didn't.
I had already made the decision that I was going to succeed in this business. Once that decision was made, I became resourceful enough to find the answers.
Today, we have our agent Resource page. We have training, coaching, mentors, replays, templates, transaction support, marketing support, and a brand that backs you up like no other!
One of the biggest differences between successful people and everyone else is decisiveness and resourcefulness. The most successful people don't have all the answers. They make a decision once they have a vision and then become resourceful enough to figure things out along the way. Before you begin your journey, decide what you're building. Write it down. Some people can keep everything in their head. Most people can't. (work on your business plan:CLICK HERE)
Then ask yourself every day:
"Am I truly working on my business today, or am I simply staying busy?"
Being busy and being productive are not the same thing. Are you doing the activities that actually generate revenue?
Are you making calls?
Are you following up?
Are you asking for appointments?
And whatever you do, the most critical thing is: STAY CONSISTENT
Don't give up on people.
Don't stop following up.
Many opportunities are lost because someone quits too early.
Sometimes the next call gets answered.
Sometimes the next text starts the conversation.
Sometimes the next follow-up creates the opportunity.
Feel free to steal one of my favorite follow-up techniques. When someone goes quiet, I'll often send a simple salute🫡.
Just a reminder that I'm still here and It's 2026 and I still don't have all the answers, but the resources are here. The support is here. The opportunity is here.
